#HomeschoolCle will be a monthly post where I list programs going on in the Cleveland area for homeschoolers.

Each listing will give the time, date, description, location, cost and age range for each class.  I will also provide links for registration.

PLEASE NOTE : Most programs require early registration and have a limited class size so please be sure to check the websites for more information and register as soon as possible.

March 5

Homeschool Happenings – Discover Maple Syrup at Lake Farmparks

Ages:  9 – 13

Time: 1:30 pm to 4 pm

Description:  Discover the history and technology of maple syrup making. Learn how sap gets from a tree to your table. Visit our sugarhouse to see the equipment and tools of the maple sugar maker.

Cost: $8 for one adult and one student. Additional adults or students are $4 each.

Cleveland Metroparks Zoo – Flight and Locomotion

All programs take place in the Jungle Lab classroom inside The RainForest

Grades K – 3 from 10:30 am to 11:30 am

Grades 4-8 from noon to 1:30 pm

Description: Learn about the forces animals must overcome to move around.

Cost: $8 per person (members), $10 per person (non-members)

*One adult will be admitted free of charge for each family registered. Program fee includes admission to the Zoo and The RainForest.

Register ahead! Registration closes Thursday night for programs the following Tuesday.

Greater Cleveland Aquarium – Home Aquarium

K-3rd grade: $6/person (pass holders); $8/person (non-pass holders)

4th – 8th grade: $8/person (pass holders); $10/person (non-pass holders)

Description: Why leave all the fun to us? Learn what it takes to care for aquatic animals here, and what you need to know to have them at home. We’ll investigate the ins and outs of water quality testing, and how to make scientific investigations on fish behavior.

Additional Information: One adult is required for each reservation and will be charged the same price as their child. Additional adults are $15.95 per person. Program fees include all day admission into the aquarium for the date of your scheduled visit.  Click here to register.

BUSTED! Myths Meets Science (Homeschool program)

10 am – noon (ages 6 – 8)
1 – 3 pm (ages 9 and up)

Description:  Explore key concepts of physics and chemistry in this action-packed workshop experience. Does toast always land butter-side down? Will consuming Pop Rocks and soda really make your stomach explode? Put these and other myths to the test. Includes admission toMythBusters: The Explosive Exhibition.

Cost: $40 per adult/child pair ($25 members).
